2015 Road Trip | Day 9: California

My parents and I are hitting the road this summer for a three-week road trip out west. Our main purpose is to deliver furniture and other belongings to my oldest brother, Kevin, who recently moved to Washington for a job. We'll be doing some extra sight-seeing along the way, as well as making stops at other family members' houses. This is the day-by-day record of our 21-day road trip.

There isn't much to report today, because we spent the day relaxing with my uncle's family and their neighbors.

Their neighbors have a very nice concrete and tile pool, kind of in a figure 8, which isn't a style you see often in Indiana. So, it felt a bit luxurious, especially since it's heated. They also offered quite the spread for dinner, grilling four different types of brats, along with hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and chicken. We also had homemade potato salad and broccoli salad, so it was your typical delicious Fourth of July food.

When the sun finally went down, we lit fireworks in their cul-de-sac. Since California is in an extreme drought, the large airborne fireworks are illegal. So it wasn't exactly the grand firework show I'm used to in Indiana, but it was still nice and fun to change it up a little.

I know this blog is rather short, but we really didn't do or see anything that great besides spend the holiday with family.

Remember, only you can prevent wildfires.
